Sea Glass consists of 18 wave-shaped resin panels suspended from the 24 foot ceiling. The building is close to the famous Atlantic City Boardwalk and its sandy beaches. The overall theme of the building is related to the ocean and also has the historical significance of being built on the location of Atlantic City’s first hospital. This new facility will serve families, women and children regardless of ability to pay. The third floor features a dedicated state-of-the-art space for teaching medical personnel. The sculpture depicts abstract soft waves, sky and sand dunes. The painting panels are layered with satellite maps of the community served by the hospital and embedded between two layers of ecoresin, which is recycled from water and other bottles. With this bird’s eye view, patients and visitors can examine the art to find the location of where they live or work and know that they are not far from home in what is typically a stressful situation.
